Bonjour Pop-Up 2025
Jul. 23, 2025 ~ Oct. 26, 2025

Hyundai Museum of Kids' Books & Art (MOKA), Korea's first museum dedicated to the theme of books since its opening in 2015, celebrates its 10th anniversary with a renewed edition of Bonjour Pop-Up (2017), one of its beloved exhibitions. French artists Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud, known internationally for their artistic pop-up books and works that span across different media, premiere three new works in this exhibition: Famille Acrobate, Lou là-haut, and VERSO. A dedicated “Art Game” section also highlights their digital creations, offering a focused experience of their evolving practice.
Pop-up books unfold three-dimensional structures as pages turn, allowing children to enjoy books as playfully as they would toys. The “Art Pop-up” section presents artistic pop-up books in which vivid illustrations and carefully designed paper structures come together to bring each story to life. The featured works include the artists’ first collaboration Popville, their signature titles Dans la forêt du paresseux and Océano, and new works that explore fresh formats and themes—Famille Acrobate, Lou là-haut, and VERSO. Visitors can follow the creative process through concept sketches, original drawings, and structural models. Large-scale installations invite them to step into scenes from the books, while activity zones offer opportunities to craft their own pop-up creations.
Beyond pop-up books, the two artists move fluidly between paper and digital, book and screen, inviting children to actively engage and become part of the art experience itself.
In the “Art Game” section, the artists’ digital games—playable on computers, tablets, and smartphones—invite children to create, explore, and imagine. Featured titles include Tip Tap and Oh!, where players generate and animate images on screen; Panique au studio!, which reveals the process of making animated films; Iris and the Giant, an RPG–card game hybrid where players become the young girl protagonist; and LavaLoop, a rhythm-based music game. These works reflect the duo’s playful ideas and distinctive graphic style, and are all available to play in the gallery. More than entertainment or education, these games expand children’s visual creativity. The section also introduces LAMINA, a recent ecological initiative by MOKA, presented alongside the museum’s growing archive of digital initiatives—VR exhibitions, metaverse platforms, online shows, and interactive art games—developed since its founding.
Playful and artistic ideas naturally draw children into the works, allowing them to delight in art and venture into wider, deeper realms of imagination. Like the works of these two artists, MOKA aspires to remain a space where children can enjoy art as play, dream, and imagine freely.
